Too Many Women
In collaboration with Cornish artist Hannah Whale, Eileen embarked on a photographic portrayal of women recovering from breast cancer surgery. The aims of the project were to raise awareness of the need for post-surgery support and to acknowledge the altered body image which women have to embrace after surgery.
The project comprised of two components. A group photograph taken in Carnglaze
Caverns, a former slate mine in Cornwall and
individual portraits of each woman showing their post-surgery scars.
The resulting images are a deeply personal portrayal which reflect the fortitude and inner beauty of every woman.
A book entitled ‘Too Many Women’ was published and the images have been exhibited in the Old Truman Brewery, London.
